The interface between nanoscience and biology is one of the most intriguing one. Biology routinely applies strategies of bottom-up self-assembly to formed complex architectures with nano-scale that have unique chemical and physical properties. The way of living system to achieved mechcical, optical, electronic and other characteristic with predominate application of organic building blocks is truly phenomenal. One the other hand, artificially fabricated inorganic and organic nanostructures are extremely useful in biological and biomedical systems for therapy, diagnostics and structural features. In our session, we will introduce leading successful application of nanotechnological concepts to biology and biological concepts into nanoscience and nanotechnology. We will describe academic technology, industrial one as well as technology that was translated form the academic world into the industrial one. We will present some of the most exciting technologies of the thriving Israeli nanobiotech industry and suggest the needed steps to ensure its long-term success.
