Over the years, the Israel Chemical Society (ICS) and NANO.IL conferences have showcased scientific and engineering achievements in chemistry and nanotechnology at the highest level. At the core of these achievements are world-class scientists and engineers. To continue reaching high-level achievements, it is essential to ensure that this human basis is preserved in the coming years.
Education plays a vital role in shaping the future of chemistry and nanotechnology, from school-level learning to advanced academic training. Chemistry education is essential for developing the next generation of scientists, fostering innovative thinking, and ensuring the continued advancement of the field. Recognizing this importance, the NANO.IL 2027 – ICS 90th Conference is committed to promoting education in its core areas of chemistry and nanotechnology.
The conference invites about 100 high school students from all over Israel, and several dozen leading Chemistry teachers to take part, with dedicated support from partners in education and industry. The students and teachers take part in the conference events just like any other attendee. They participate in the plenary sessions, attend the professional breakout sessions, and are exposed to the hundreds of posters presented at the conference.
Furthermore, three specialized sessions dedicated to education are held during the conference:
- Scientific and Technological Session: Leading scientists and engineers from academia and industry present cutting-edge research and technological developments in chemistry and nanotechnology.
- Science Education Innovations Session: Designed primarily for teachers, this session introduces participants to current research, innovative teaching approaches, and advanced educational tools in chemistry education.
- Student Career and Research Panel: This interactive panel introduces students to diverse career paths and professional experiences of chemists working in academia and industry, offering insights into potential future opportunities in these fields.
The education strand leaders, who come from Academia and the Ministry of Education, believe that these and other activities will strengthen the desire of young people to persevere in science and technology studies, with an emphasis on chemistry and nanotechnology, thereby ensuring continued excellence in these vital fields.
